Jamón Ibérico de Bellota is the jewel of Spanish cuisine. Aged for over three years in the mountains of Salamanca, this Montaraz UNICO Bellota ham has an incredibly complex, rich flavor and beautiful marbling. This exceptional jamón will make an unforgettable centerpiece for your next party or family gathering.

Each slice of Montaraz Jamón Ibérico de Bellota is marbled with rich, beneficial fats that bring out the concert of flavors in the ham. Slicing by hand from a bone-in jamón is the best way to enjoy Bellota ham at its freshest and most flavorful.

Montaraz only uses 100% pure-breed, acorn-fed Ibérico pigs that live free on the beautiful ‘dehesa’ countryside of western Spain. Bellota literally translates as acorn in Spanish. Ibérico pigs with bellota designation feast on acorns during the ‘montanera’ season when the trees produce huge amounts of sweet acorns. These privileged animals spend their days grazing the ‘dehesa’ rangeland, a primordial oak and cork forest that covers much of western Spain – each pig is allowed over 2 acres to forage.

Because of this exercise and diet, the hams are marbled with rich, beneficial fats. As they cure, the fat melts away, transforming the pork into a deep red, intensely flavored ham. Each ham is inspected personally by a Montaraz jamón master before it is allowed to be sold.

Montaraz is in the DOP Extremadura, a denomination of origin like a wine appellation. Every step is overseen by the independent organization, certifying the source of the pork, to the levels of oleic acid, to the final packaging.

Montaraz has been curing fine Ibérico hams for over 125 years. Four generations of family expertise goes into the curing each jamón.

Unwrap your jamón and bring it to room temperature before slicing. A ham holder is required so that you can slice your Jamón Ibérico de Bellota properly and safely.
